Add Minimum Pro Tagline Widget To Any Theme

In this tutorial, i’ll show you how to add the Tagline from the new Minimum Pro theme by StudioPress to another theme.

For this example, i’ll be adding the widget for the tagline to the Genesis 2.0 Sample child theme.

Here’s what the tagline looks like by default:

Minimum Pro Theme tagline

And here’s an example of what it can look like on another theme:

single post tagline on sample theme

In the above example it only displays conditionally on single posts and includes the site description on the left and the genesis eNews widget on the right.

Here’s the code you can simply paste in your child themes functions.php file:

And here’s the CSS code which goes at the end of your child themes style.css file:

I’ve added CSS to style the Genesis eNews Widget, change the background color of the container and customize the font style and size.

All you need to do is install the eNews widget and configure the widget settings to your own liking.

The text for the tagline is pulled from the description you add to your General Settings > Tagline and displayed on the left side of the container.

    Hey Brad,

Would it be problematic to use this with the recommended eNews Extended plugin?

Also, is it possible to use defined text instead of the site-tagline?

    • Brad Dalton says

      1. That’s exactly what i tested it with and what you see in the screenshot.

      2. Again, that’s exactly what i have done in this tutorial and removed the site tagline.

You can also use a custom field and add unique content/text on every page or post.

In this example, its more about using the container for a opt in subscribe box in a high visibility area.

Great stuff as always. I would like to see a tutorial on how to add the new responsive menu that Minimum pro has. It is really sweet.

    • Brad Dalton says

      Hi Dave.

I was looking at that today and thinking the exact same thing so i will post about that at some stage.

I’ve also worked out something which is really cool with the tagline widget that i’m almost finished tweaking.

Never seen it done before so i hope its popular.
