Here’s a few extra tips on how to setup your WordPress site that you may find helpful at some stage.
You’ll learn more about your upload settings which are covered in the next video about Media.
Uploading
By default, WordPress stores all your Media uploads for images, video’s, audio and zip folders in a directory on your server named uploads.
Every time you upload to this folder, your media files get stored go into a sub folder to be stored by month and year.
Example: /public_html/wp-content/uploads/2012/06
If you ever need to find a media file, you can use File Manager in cPanel or FTP and find the file by checking in the folder for that month and year. This can come in handy when replacing out of date video’s and deleting old media files which you no longer need.
Screen Options
You’ll find in the top right hand corner of every page a tab named Screen Options. When you click this tab, it will drop down and display a list of whats available to Show on screen.
Simply check the boxes of the modules you use on a regular basis and uncheck the boxes for the features you don’t use very often. This organises your different admin screens better so you can.
You can also choose to a one or two column layout.
