How To Add Icons Before Entry Meta & Post Info In Genesis

Some of the default themes like Twenty Thirteen and Twenty Fourteen include Genericons before the entry meta like this:

Rather than install a plugin or add Genericons manually which requires extra work, you can use the native Dashicons already included in WordPress.

Here’s what the default theme for Genesis looks like without the icons before the post info and post meta.

And here’s what your entry meta can look like after adding the Dashicons CSS to your child themes style.css file.

Add this CSS code in your style.css file before the Media Queries.

And then add this PHP code to your child themes functions.php file
