This custom function enables you to remove the featured image from the first page of a paginated archive like your home page which is the case on this example.
A member of WP Sites had added full width images to the post editor and also wanted to display full content on the first page of the home page archives.
The problem is they only wanted a thumbnail on all other paginated pages with the excerpt which is why i worked out this solution:
