How To Add MX Records To Kinsta for Zoho Email

If you’re migrating to Kinsta and using Zoho to host your domains email, you’ll need to create MX records using DNS Management in your My Kinsta account.

Remember do this before you change your name servers to point to Kinsta otherwise you will lose your email hosting and ability to send & receive emails.

Add MX Records

  • Login to your My Kinsta account.
  • Click DNS in the left hand sidebar.
  • Click your domain.
  • Under DNS Management > DNS Records, click Add a DNS record.

You’ll need to add 3 records.

Here’s what your 1st record should look like :

  • Click MX
  • Leave Hostname blank for your main domain
  • Paste in mx.zoho.com.au
  • Change the priority to 10
  • Click Add DNS record

There’s only 2 values needed for each DNS record, Points to and Priority.

The following table shows you the 3 MX records you need to add to use your domains email with Kinsta.

Email Host NameMX Points To ValuePriority
mx.zoho.com.au10
mx2.zoho.com.au20
mx3.zoho.com.au50

Once 3 records are added, you’ll see the MX records added in your DNS records.

Check MX Records

Using Zoho Toolkit, you can check the MX records for your domain. This may help if you have problems configuring your email address to work with Kinsta.

SPF Configuration

You’ll also need to configure Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records. This involves adding 1 new DNS record.

Firstly :

  • Login to your Zoho admin console.
  • Click on your domain name
  • Click Email Configuration
  • Click SPF

You’ll then see TXT record details in a table and the verify button you’ll need to click allowing at least 30 minutes after you add the following record.

On your My Kinsta DNS Management page :

  • Click Add a DNS record
  • Click TXT
  • Paste in the following value v=spf1 include:zohomail.com.au ~all
  • Click Add DNS record

You’ll then need to wait awhile before you can verify your new record in your Zoho admin console.
