One of the steps you need to complete when you setup a VPS is to create an account for yourself in WHM-Web Host Manager. Once you create a new account in WHM, you’ll get a cPanel for this account which is not unlike creating a shared hosting account but in this case, all for yourself.
Login to WHM using the URL link provided in the New Account Info email you’ll get once your VPS account is approved. I’m writing this post based on Hostgators VPS level 3 with cPanel package.
Click the Account Functions icon on the Home screen of WHM or go to Account Functions in the left sidebar and click Create a New Account.
Add your Domain Information
Next step is important as you need to select the package you wish to connect with your account. If you haven’t yet created a package for yourself, i suggest you read How To Create a Package in WHM for VPS Users if you need guidance.
Once you have created a Package, you’ll see it show up in the drop down so select it and move on to Settings. Here you can choose a theme and language if your Plan offers these options.
Under Reseller Settings, select Owns their account if this account is for you.
Next step under DNS Settings is to check the Private Nameservers
Mail Router Settings
I used the recommended Automatically Detect Configuration rather than Local Mail Exchanger which was checked by default.
Click the Create button and your new Account will be created and connected to your Private Nameservers and Custom Package.Subscribe for new Genesis Tutorials
