Huffington Post Style “Suggested For You” Widget – Title Before Image

This post contains a custom widget for Genesis displaying the entry title before the featured image in the primary sidebar widget area.

The image on the right shows what the custom featured posts widget displays.

The genesis featured posts widget displays the entry title after the featured image by default and doesn’t enable you to reposition the title.

Lets look at a side by side comparison showing The Huffington Posts sidebar on the right and a custom featured posts widget for genesis on the left (included in this tutorial for wp sites members only).

Hi there. Just joined WP SITES and am glad to be here. First question…

I’m trying to create links to related posts in the sidebar exactly like Huffington Post does in their “Suggested for You” sidebar ( see example here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/05/07/future-of-shopping_n_7225732.html ) The most important attributes are text links above larger images that roughly fit that proportion (although the images can be taller if that makes it easier).

Here’s the code for members which creates a new widget named Featured Posts Title Before Image.
