Feature Your 1st Post Full Width With a Different Style On Your Blog Page

This tutorial shows you how to show off the first post in your home pages main loop in a feature box.

The 1st post will display full width covering the content and sidebar.

The 2nd and subsequent posts will display in the standard layout which is generally, content sidebar.

Here’s a very basic example of what the code in this tutorial produces tested on the Genesis Sample child theme:

All you need to do is add your own styling to the sample CSS included below.

Code Installation

There’s 2 simple steps:

  1. Add the PHP code to the end of your child themes functions.php file.
  2. Add the sample CSS to the end of your child themes style.css file before the Media Queries.
