Modify Footer Menu in Genesis Sample Child Theme

If you look in the functions file of the Genesis Sample child theme you’ll see the following PHP code.

// Rename primary and secondary navigation menus.
add_theme_support( 'genesis-menus', array( 'primary' => __( 'After Header Menu', 'genesis-sample' ), 'secondary' => __( 'Footer Menu', 'genesis-sample' ) ) );

// Reposition the secondary navigation menu.
remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_subnav' );
add_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_do_subnav', 5 );

You can modify this code to reposition or remove the footer menu.

The footer menu uses the secondary menu.

Remove Footer Menu

Modify the code to this if you want to remove the footer menu.

add_theme_support( 'genesis-menus', array( 'primary' => __( 'After Header Menu', 'genesis-sample' ) ) );

Reposition Footer Menu

Remove the following code if you want to reposition the footer menu back to its default position which is genesis_after_header :

remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_subnav' );
add_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_do_subnav', 5 );

If you want to reposition the secondary menu to another hook position, change the hook like this :

remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_subnav' );
add_action( 'genesis_before_footer', 'genesis_do_subnav', 5 );

The above code uses the genesis_before_footer hook. Use any other hook to reposition the secondary nav menu to any position on the page.
