Different Tax for New & 2nd Hand Products Using WooCommerce

This Custom Taxes on Margin plugin for WooCommerce enables you to add tax based on different tax classes. In this case, for new and second hand products.

The plugin :

• Adds a conditional custom field to the general product tab for the product purchase price only when the Custom Tax Class is selected.
• Calculates the tax for any product where the custom tax class is selected based on the margin not the value of the product. Example : If the purchase price is $20 and the product selling price is $80, the tax is calculated as a percentage of the margin which is $60 resulting in a 20% tax which would equate to $12.
• Uses the value added to the WooCommerce > Settings > Tax Rate % field for both Standard rates and Custom Tax Class rates.
• Adds the tax for either the standard or custom tax class to the order details on order emails.

Works with both simple and variable products.

Usage

There’s 4 steps :

1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Tax and create a Additional tax class named Custom Tax Class.
2. Click on the new Custom Tax Class rates link and add your tax rate % for products using this custom class.
3. Click on Standard Rates and add a tax rate % along with the other required fields.
4. On the single product page, go to General > Tax class and select custom tax class for products you want assigned the custom tax rates and add the products purchase price.

How It Works

On the single product page general settings :

If tax status = taxable and tax class = custom tax class, displays the tax for the custom tax class.

If tax status = taxable and tax class = standard, displays the tax for standard tax class.
