With well over 2.3 Million downloads, WooCommerce is regarded as one of the best eCommerce plugin solutions for WordPress.
The only problem is the plugin doesn’t work perfectly with any theme other than a Woo theme.
Unless you modify the code.
Why? Because different themes use different CSS classes.
Here’s the easiest way to make WooCommerce work perfectly with any StudioPress child theme.
Integrate Genesis With WooCommerce
To fix problems caused by invalid markup, you can simply install the Genesis Connect WooCommerce plugin.
Go to Plugins > Add New and search for Genesis Connect for WooCommerce.
This plugin combined with Genesis gives you several benefits which help you customize your online store.
Ready Made Template Files
You get 3 template files which are FREE!
Archive Product – This template displays the archive for Products
Single Product – This template displays the single Product
Taxonomy – This template displays the Product Category and Tag taxonomy term archives
If you want to customize these templates:
- Create a new folder in your child theme named woocommerce
- Copy any of these 3 templates into your new woocommerce folder
You can now modify the code or add any Genesis or Woo Commerce hooks to these templates which have been developed specifically to work with Genesis AND the WooCommerce plugin.
More Hooks
Genesis includes more hooks and filters.
On top of the huge amount of hooks WooCommerce includes, you can also add any Genesis hook.
They’re easier to use than Woo hooks because there’s a huge amount of code snippets included in tutorials already published by the StudioPress community.
As an example, you’ll find over 1,000 on this site alone.
Customization Support
With over 7 Million FREE downloads, Woo cannot provide full support for customization and integration of the WooCommerce plugin with the huge range of different themes for WordPress now available.
Tested on the Genesis Sample child theme by StudioPress.
