Both solutions enable you to modify the post author link in the entry meta inside the entry header to link to your BuddyPress profile page.
In the 1st solution, the link is only changed when logged in as the profile page cannot be accessed when logged out.
In the 2nd solution, the post authors name is linked to the BuddyPress profile page when logged in or out.
