Stop Spam Registrations

Firstly, lets look at what causes registration spam in the first place.

On your general settings page you’ll find a checkbox next to the Membership option which when checked allows anyone can register.

If you check that box and save the setting for a few minutes, you’ll find lots of spam registrations. In some cases thousands.

The reason for this is there’s bots designed specifically to search for WordPress URL’s which allow registration.

Try installing any number of anti registration spam plugins and see if they wipe out spam registrations 100%.

If you’re still having problems, you can do what i do and enable registration without checking the box which allows anyone can register.

This addon for Gravity forms enables you to allow membership registration without changing the native WordPress Membership setting.

I have never experienced even 1 spam registration since using this solution and i believe its because i haven’t enabled the Anyone Can Register for Membership checkbox on the General Settings page.

One of the basic featured i like about this addon is the ability to select manual activation of user registrations for new members which guarantees you have total control over spam membership registrations.
