Add Slider To Front Page of Atmosphere Pro

This tutorial provides the code you can use to add a slider to the front page of the Atmosphere Pro child theme by StudioPress.

The code is dependant on the use of the Soliloquy plugin.

Here’s a look at the slider added after the header on the home page of the theme:

There’s a gap after the slider before the front-page-1 widget area which you can also remove if needed simply by adding a few lines of CSS to the end of your child themes style.css file. The CSS to do this is also included in this tutorial.

Here’s the step by step instructions & code for logged in members:

  1. What do you recommend for code editor? an offline editor, or plug-in editor?

I use Notepad++ for Windows and Text Wrangler for Mac.

I’ll send you the theme with the code installed if you like?

      1. I see there are plug-ins that give line numbering and other editor functionality to admins in WP Admin. Are these a good option?

Better than the standard editor but not as good as a standalone application which opens different file types by default.

I suggest keeping the plugins to a minimum.
