Add Slideshow To Front Page 2 Widget Background in Smart Passive Income Pro Theme

This tutorial provides the code which enables you to add a slideshow to the front page 2 widget background in the Smart Passive Income Pro child theme by StudioPress.

On top of adding the slideshow images, this solution also enables you to float content like a call to action, or anything else, over the top of the front-page-2 widget area. You can also view a demo of this in the video above which includes a simple text widget with some HTML for a button.

The code also removes the default Front Page 2 – Background Image setting from the WordPress customizer as this is no longer needed.

Installation

1. After downloading the files below, simply upload the folder named slideshow to your child theme’s root directory.
2. Then you can copy and paste the PHP code from the file named functions.php to your child theme’s functions.php file.

Once you’ve installed the code, you can swap out the path to each slideshow image with the full URL to each image in the slideshow-settings.js file located in the folder named slideshow.
