Category Gallery Template With Links To Subcategories

This tutorial provides the template and CSS which enables you to display posts from each sub category in a 2,3,4 or 6 column grid like you see in the following example:

The styling is based on a example this person liked.

The template is based on this question from a member of the StudioPress community:

I am looking to put posts into a gallery so that there is a thumbnail and a title linking to each post in a category. I would like to make a different page with a list of each post in each category. Do you know how I can do this?

The template includes search links to each child category archive page which you can also display in a 2,3,4 or 6 column grid using the same code in the template.

Template Installation

Simply name your template the same as your category which in this case is diy so the template file name category-diy.php. Upload the file to your child theme folder.

Then add the CSS to the end of your child themes style.css file.

You can then create sub categories like this:

Tested on the Genesis Sample child theme by StudioPress.

Very simple indeed!
