This simple custom function provides the most efficient solution for displaying custom post types on the front page of your WordPress site.
Display CPT’s In Grid Style
If your theme already includes an archive-portfolio.php file, simply rename the file to home.php or front-page.php.
Thats all there is to it.
Add a custom function to your child themes functions file and rename your archive-cpt.php file to front-page.php or home.php.
Note: This solution assumes you have used the code from the Executive Pro theme by StudioPress which includes all the PHP files and CSS code to create a custom post type with taxonomy support for any child theme running on Genesis.
