List Posts By Month & Year

This template displays a list of all posts by month and year in any Genesis child theme. Simply upload the file to your child themes root directory and select the Date Archives template from the drop down menu on any Page Edit screen.

Here’s an example of what the template produces with a very small amount of styling.

The code uses the big WP_Query class so you probably know it’s super flexible and offers a massive range of parameters to give you maximum control.

Date Format

You can use the WordPress General Settings to configure the date format or add your own custom date format like you see in the following screen shot:

No need to edit the template code to modify the date format.
