Replace Front Page 1 Widget With Slider Background In Altitude Pro

This tutorial enables you to replace the 1st widget area named front-page-1 in the Altitude Pro themes front-page.php file with a slider.

Update: Here’s another way to add your slideshow.

In this example we’ll use the Soliloquy slider to replace the widget area like this:

alititude-slider

This is a very uncomplicated solution which produces exactly what you see in the screen shot.

The code modification doesn’t effect any responsive CSS or scroll points to your 6 front page widget areas.

All you need to do is install the Soliloquy responsive plugin, create a slider, add your slider images, configure the slider settings and swap out the slider I.D in the PHP code below.

Thats all there is to it for logged in members:

  1. Bradley, I have successfully modified Altitude Pro to increase the number of homepage widget areas to seven and added backgrounds to all but one using your tutorials.

However, I want to have an instance of Soliloquy with the carousel add-on in the Widget Area 3 section with a width at 1600 pixels and a height of 300 pixels (actually, likely needs to be a little more than that as I want to use 300px x 300px images.). This will be used as a logo carousel of the site owner’s client logos. However, I’m not quite sure how to reduce the height of the section–it is still immensely tall. Can you give me some guidance on how that may be achieved?

    1. Hi Dan. Please send me a copy of the addon so i can set it up and take a look.also, if you can, link to a live site.
