Hi there. Just been watching your videos on youtube on how to install a slider in the header. I am struggling badly on my site. I have the free theme called iFeature. I can turn off the slider that comes with the theme from backend but the hard part is installing POWr video slider in the same place as iFeature slide. Any idea how I can resolve this because the theme people aren’t even replying me… Looking forward to hearing from you…

Its worth investing in a premium theme like Genesis and so much easier to customize.

To install the slider, you simply add the template tag directly to your header, php file in a child theme.

    Hi
Does anyone know of a test program that will tell you which wp plugin is causing a site to load slowly?

    Thanks

      Try this Steve http://wordpress.org/plugins/p3-profiler/

If you use a managed host like i do, you’ll find plugins have no negative effect on speed.

Sites using shared hosting are always going to be a challenge to load quickly.

        Hi Brad
Thanks, I just tried that plugin and it says that “contact form 7” is the worst offender!

Which contact form do you recommend?

I have the Genesis Metro theme installed and actually wondered if it was the theme slowing things down. I have another site hosted from the same shared host but without a genesis theme, and it loads instantly.

        Regards
        Steve

Every site i have transferred to Genesis loads faster so i don’t think its a theme issue in your case.

Its probably the server you’re on as its sounds like you share the server resources with other sites.

Some shared servers perform better than others because the sites on that server use less resources.

You’ll never get a site on a shared server to load fast as they generally force you to upgrade to VPS or Pro shared.

You could drag the contact form module out of Jetpack and install it separately however i don’t think it will make any difference.

            Hi Brad

Thanks. Actually I deleted the Google Analytic’s plugin, and there is already a big speed improvement. I will experiment to find better plugins.

I take your point about the shared host, but like I said, my other WordPress site on the same shared host loads really fast.

            Regards

Maybe its on another server pod.

Its very easy to add the Google Analytics Javascript to one of the Header and Footer scripts fields in the Genesis > Theme Settings > Header and Footer Scripts.

    Hi Brad

I noticed that the videos on your site don’t re-size correctly on Iphone. I use Eleven40 Pro Theme and I have the same problem. Is there a solution? Here is a script that might help
http://css-tricks.com/NetMag/FluidWidthVideo/demo.php but I don’t know how to incorporate it into Eleven40 Pro Theme. Do you have any suggestions?

    Regards
    Mike

      Hello Mike.

I did use some code to do this but removed it as i can’t see how anyone can watch a video properly on an iPhone.

Here’s several solutions which explain how to do this using different methods http://wpsites.net/wordpress-tips/embed-videos-responsive/

Wow, Brad. I use my iPhone exclusively for training videos…turned sideways (landscape mode), my iPhone works great as an HTML5(?) player while I follow along and work on my multi-screen desktop setup. My iPad is also sitting here too to test out responsive-related tweaks constantly. Just some feedback fyi for what it’s worth. To each his own, right? Thanks for the great help and service you and your site provides for us frustrated WP noobs. Cheers, Steve Wharton | Seattle

Hi Brad – Great video on multi-site install, but we want to use 2 different Themes! How do we configure that to work?! Right now I am getting 500 Internal server error on the 2nd site that has a different theme install on it!!

Is the 2nd site a sub site? Shouldn’t be a problem.

Sounds like its a problem in your config or htaccess file.

Are you installing in a sub domain or sub directory?

    Hi Brad:

I tried installing custom fonts to my Sales Press Pro WP theme, but the font (Daniel) isn’t showing anywhere in the website. What did I do wrong?

That procedure you wrote seems pretty straight forward and easy, but somehow didn’t work for me.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Link to your site please Henry.

Where did you add the fonts in your theme? Which selectors and on what line of your child themes style.css file?
