Add Flexible Widgets To Genesis

This tutorial provides the instructions & code which enables you to create flexible widgets in the Brunch Pro themes front page and other Genesis child themes.

The flexible widget area can be populated with either:

1. Genesis featured posts widgets
2. Featured book widgets generated by the Author Pro plugin

Here’s an example of the code added to the Dear theme with 3 featured boom widgets in the 1st row and 3 Genesis featured posts widgets on the 2nd row:

The code also includes CSS for Media Queries which display each widget on its own row when the screen width is below 800px.

Note: The flexible widget classes where added to the home top widget area in the Dear themes front-page.php file however you could add them to any widget area in any Genesis child theme. The code may need tweaking for use on child themes other than what the code has been tested on.
