Official Facebook Plugin for WordPress Built by Facebook Engineers

Today WordPress officially released a new plugin for Facebook.

The plugin has been developed by both Facebook engineers and the company behind WordPress, Automattic, to make it easier to integrate Facebook features into WordPress.

Widgets

Once you’ve setup the plugin, you’ll get 6 widgets which you can drag into any widget area and configure.

They are:

  • Like Box
  • Like Button
  • Recommendations
  • Subscribe Button
  • Send Button
  • Recent Activity

Configuring The Plugin

Get your App ID, Secret, and Namespace at https://developers.facebook.com/apps.

Post and Page Settings

On top of the 6 Facebook widgets which are added after you successfully configure the the plugin, there’s also 6 modules added to every posts and page that you can use.

Linking WordPress To Facebook

Link your Facebook account to your WordPress account to get full functionality, including adding new Posts to your Timeline and mentioning friends Facebook Pages.

Facebook Insights

You’ll find a link under the new Facebook tab added below your settings links.

The link goes directly to Facebook where you can gauge the effectiveness of linking your Facebook account to your WordPress blog.
