Add Split Splash Screen Before Entering Website

This tutorial contains the code and instructions about how to add what’s called a splash screen or splash page to the Altitude Pro theme by StudioPress. This page gives users a choice before they enter your website and land on the home page of your site.

You can use this page for different purposes some of which are:

  1. Offer which language version of your site your users want to view.
  2. Offer a choice of different landing pages for students and staff.
  3. Display a legal warning for persons under a specific age limit.

This page template is fast loading and only includes a minimal amount of code without any jQuery. The template adds 2 buttons to the splash screen. One button links to the front page template file and the other to a blank template file named Staff.

Here’s the demo video showing the splash screen template without any styling:

Note: There’s no styling for the splash screen. If you want to use it on other Genesis child themes, you will need to modify the PHP code and CSS to some degree.
