If you’re installed WordPress on your local PC using instantwp, you may want to import your content from your live installation.
Using the export tool on your live site, you can create a copy of all your posts, pages etc and then import these into your local setup.
The only problem is, the default settings are limited at 2 MB.
This means your export file won’t import if its over this limit of 2 MB.
There is an easy solution which is to increase the limits.
Navigate to iwpserver\server\config_tpl on your local pc and open the php ini file using notepad ++.
You can now use the search feature to find these settings:
- post_max_size
- upload_max_filesize
Simply change the default limits from 2 MB to 20 MB or more if needed.
Then you’ll need to restart the system before the limits change in WordPress.
You should now be able to import your content into your local installation of WordPress.
If you’re still having problems importing your content, you may need to export each months posts and import them one at a time to keep the file size smaller.
