Display Full Post Content or Excerpts On Specific Archive Pages in Genesis

If you go to Genesis > Theme Settings > Content Archives, you see the following settings:

There’s only 2 settings to display:

  1. Display Post Content
  2. Display Post Excerpts

Once set, these settings will affect any blog listings page, including archive, author, blog, category, search, and tag pages.

But, what if you want 1 or more archives to show full content and the rest to show excerpts only?

Or what if you want 1 or more archives to display excerpts when the Content Archives are set to display full content?

Solution

You will need to use code to over ride these settings on specific archives.

There’s 2 ways to use the code snippets below to do this:

  1. You can add the code directly to a file.
  2. Or you can use the code with a conditional tag via your child themes functions file.
