Showcase of Thesis Theme Customizations Created By Non Designers

If you haven’t yet seen what others have made using Thesis, check out the Kolakube showcase.

Here you’ll find some great looking websites and blogs made by people who aren’t web designers or experienced in WordPress development.

The reason i wrote this post is because of the response i received from my ongoing survey. Many readers wanted tutorials on how to customize their sites.

The best advice i can give you is to find a skin which offers great support for this purpose so its easier for you to make your site unique.

Traits of a Good Theme Designer

One of the most common traits of a good theme developer is how often they update the theme. Its a good sign that they’re looking after their existing users even after they have your money in their pocket.

Kolakube are also updating their Thesis skins on a regular basis and have just released version 2.2.4 of Marketers Delight. This skin is the most popular in their range and they also have more upgrades planned in the near future.

Here’s one example:

Version 2.2.4 details

MD2.2.4 is a small update, but the key thing about it is this:

Your customizations will be separate from the customizations MD2 makes. Meaning, the CSS, images, functions, JavaScript, etc. are all located in the /md/ folder. This is great for you, because when you go to upgrade Marketers Delight in the future, you won’t have to worry about going through a complicated update process.

Also, MD2.2.4 sets the stage for what will soon be a responsive design. I plan on releasing a responsive version of Marketers Delight next week, and MD2.2.4 will make it a lot easier to update when that time comes.

As always, if you have questions or need help- contact us at the support forum.

The following changes are now included in the latest version:

  •  Small font menu option removed, made default
  • Bug fix: 3 column footer disappear when page lead active (was released in the 2.2.3 soft launch)
  • Added HTML5 doctype
  • Admin panel improvements: JavaScript and CSS better optimized for quicker load times
  • “No background” option added to background pattern selector in design options

Customizing Thesis

If you love Thesis or are interested in creating your own unique site, Kolakube provide skins which make your goal more easily achievable.

Take a look in their showcase and see for yourself.

One of the main reasons anyone can customize their own website using these skins is because their support forum gives you pretty much anything you ask for.

As well as having access to Kolakube support, you also get support from Thesis as well.

Here’s some of what you get:

  1. A User guide which contains hundreds of customization code snippets which have been tested.
  2. CSS, PHP and WordPress support
  3. Tutorials written for Thesis owners

The combination of using the Thesis framework with a Kolakube skin is powerful and well supported, even after you make the purchase.
