Jetpack 1.5 Displays Your Gallery Images in a Carousel

Photo Matt has just sent out a short post about the image Carousel which has been added to version 1.5 of Jetpack.

All you need to do is upload images to the native gallery in WordPress and insert the shortcode into your editor.

What you get is a carousel type display of your gallery images.

Transform your standard image galleries into an immersize full-screen experience

Here’s an example of what your gallery will now look like if you also have Jetpack 1.5 installed.

These images where taken from Marina Bay Sands in Singapore this year.

Demo Images in Carousel

How Does It Work

  • You’ll need Jetpack installed which means you’ll also need a WordPress.com account.
  • Go to Jetpack and activate the new Carousel feature
  • Choose from a black or white background

Activate Carousel

Go to Settings > Media

Image Gallery Carousel

I recently wrote about how to move your images from Next Gen to the native gallery WordPress includes in its core files and this is one of the benefits of doing so.

If you don’t want to create a WordPress.com account, you can use some of Jetpacks modules as stand alone plugins.

Expect even more cool features for the native WordPress gallery and other media features coming soon.
