If you’ve ever imported a XML file which is above 2mg in size, you might receive an error message caused by the file size being to large.
This is normally caused when the file size is above the limits set on your server.
You can increase these limits in your php.ini file which should enable you to successfully import a larger file size.
If all else fails, another option is to reduce the size of your file by splitting it into smaller files.
In this tutorial, we’ll take a look at how to use the WXR Splitter application which splits WXR file types into smaller files.
You can download the WXR File Splitter Application here.
You can also use this online tool to convert your XML files to WXR format.
This solution comes in handy when importing from Blogger to WordPress or WordPress.com to WordPress.org.
The WXR Splitter program works on WXR and XML file types.
Once you’ve downloaded the .exe file, click it to open the program and browse for your WXR/XML file.
Here’s the result after splitting files into smaller 2 mg sizes
Pretty cool little app that makes light work of splitting files into smaller files so you can easily import them into WordPress.
